Connor’s Fundraiser for Hospice Toronto
Connor is a special young man who wanted to make a difference and help others. Over the past years Connor has been growing his hair so he can donate it to help make a wig for a child undergoing Cancer treatment. Connor’s efforts went well beyond this as he knew good friends of his and their family were being impacted by serious illness. He wondered what he could do and with the support of his parents, his community and school he ventured out to get donations for Hospice Toronto as he knew what a difference Hospice Toronto made to support his friends.
Remarkable kindness was shown by so many and Connor raised over $1000 for Hospice Toronto. In November a visit was made to the Grade 6 class and Connor’s ‘Big Snip’ took place with the help of his personal hairstylist. His classmates and teacher also had an opportunity to talk about how illness has affected them, how they can make a difference. It was an amazing experience and these young people shared so many personal stories and ideas in how they help others in their everyday lives. Later in the month, Connor, his parents and a good friend visited our offices, they enjoyed some cupcakes and they presented a cheque to Executive Director, Dena Maule. A BIG THANKS to Connor, his family and his classmates at Cosburn Middle School. Way to go!!!
