Registrations are now open for our Virtual Hike for Hospice!
In previous years, thousands of Canadians have gathered together on the first Sunday in May to participate in the national Hike for Hospice Palliative Care and to kick off the national Hospice Palliative Care Week. We have partnered up with Philip Aziz Centre / Emily’s House and Virtual Photo Walks again this year to bring you our Virtual Hike for Hospice July 17th to August 28th to raise funds and awareness for hospice palliative care in our community.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, demand for services like social work, grief and bereavement supports, and respite care has increased. Communities have developed new needs caused by limited mobility, food insecurity, social isolation, and reduced access to in-person services. Many organizations, including us, have had to adapt and do things a little differently. Despite many challenges, we remain committed to serving our clients, residents and their families, and to keeping everyone safe during these unprecedented times. Our hospice staff and volunteers have risen to the challenge by providing support groups and one-on-one services virtually through phone or video conferencing. We have adapted to offer programming that meets the changing needs of our clients during these difficult times – but we need your support to keep these programs going.
We invite you to register now to fundraise and hold your own symbolic ‘hikes’ by engaging in any fun activity of your choice (like taking the stairs, going for a run outdoors or on a treadmill, exploring the trails and paths in your community or playing sports…) between July 17th and August 28th and sharing on social media.
