With the pandemic we got creative through a virtual Hike but now we’re ready to be 100% back in the park. Hospice Toronto has again partnered with Philip Aziz Centre / Emily’s House to bring you our 21st Annual Toronto Partners Hike for Hospice on Sunday May 7th to raise funds and awareness for hospice palliative care in our community.\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \nSunday\, May 7th\, 2023\nRiverdale Park West (Cabbagetown)\nRegistration opens 9:00AM\nHike begins 11:00AM\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \nChildren’s Fun-Zone\nTemporary Tattoo artist\nEntertainment by Danny Marks\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \nWhile Covid has become more manageable overall\, demand for services like social work\, grief and bereavement supports\, and respite care has continued to increase. Communities have developed new needs caused by limited mobility\, food insecurity\, social isolation\, and reduced access to in-person services. Many organizations\, including Hospice Toronto\, have had to adapt and do things a little differently to meet those needs.\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \nDespite many challenges\, we remain committed to serving our clients\, residents and their families\, while keeping everyone safe. Our hospice staff and volunteers have risen to the challenge by providing support groups and one-on-one services virtually through phone or video conferencing when unable to enter people’s homes. Others are isolated from their usual support networks or are experiencing financial hardship. \nEarly in the pandemic\, we partnered with local caterers and grocery stores to launch a new program that brings nutritious food directly to our clients\, at no cost. In total\, we have delivered more than 16\,000 hot meals and food hampers and are supporting more than 500 vulnerable families. \nBut there is still a lot of work to be done as we need your help to strengthen the program and keep it going. We are kicking off our holiday giving season this #GivingTuesday\, November 30th. Started a few years ago\, #GivingTuesday is a special day to raise awareness and support charities across the country and takes place on the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. \nOur goal this year is to raise $8\,000 to strengthen and keep the food program for our clients and families going.
