Legacy and Planned Giving

Since 1988, Hospice Toronto has trained volunteers to care for individuals who have chosen to die in their home.

Remembering Hospice Toronto (formerly known as Trinity Home Hospice) with a bequest – or gift in your will – is a lasting testimony to the generosity of our donors that will help us continue to support those at the end of their lives – and those who love them – cope with and face death.

In addition to supporting people who choose to die at home, surrounded by the familiarity and comfort of a lifetime of collected treasures, it can also be a meaningful way to honour a loved one

Hospice Toronto can accept outright gifts of cash and gifts of securities, as well as other vehicles such as life insurance and charitable annuities.

Talk to your family and seek expert advice

When considering a legacy gift, we recommend you seek advice from professional advisors and discuss the matter with your family

Furthermore, because Canadian tax law changes frequently, there may be tax advantages to the way you make a gift to charity in your will. For example, you may be able to leave more of your money to your friends, family and favourite charities if you gift a gift of securities because of how the capital gains are treated in this situation. Be sure to consult a trusted financial adviser if you’d like to maximize the tax benefits of a legacy gift.
