Board Committees
In order to optimally support all the needs of Hospice Toronto, the Board of Directors has established four key Committees, each chaired by a Member of the Board.
Those committees are:
- The Fund Development Committee, whose mandate is to provide strategic direction and oversight on the development of a funding strategy for HT, supporting fundraising efforts and stewarding donor relationships.
- The Governance Committee, whose mandate is to provide oversight of the Board’s governance practices with the objective of ensuring good governance, accountability and transparency. The Committee is to advise and assist the Board on meeting its legal, ethical, and functional responsibilities through governance policy development, recruitment strategies, training programs, monitoring of Board activities and assessment of Board performance.
A well-functioning board of directors or trustees is essential to the health and sustainability of any nonprofit.
- The Finance & Risk Committee, whose mandate is providing oversight to audit, internal control and integrative risk management activities, ensuring financial accountability and transparency in reporting to all of the organization’s stakeholders.
- The Communications Committee, whose mandate is to provide strategic direction on branding and how Hospice Toronto engages with the media, stakeholders and the community.
These committees are made up of both Board members and external volunteers who are recruited, screened and invited to provide support. They meet regularly and report their activities to the Board of Directors to ensure progress on key initiatives/issues.
